WORK EXPERIENCE: Troy has been in the maritime industry for over 14 years. He was born in Whangarei, New Zealand on the beautiful east coast. Troy started in the maritime industry working as a dive guide, when he was offered a relief diving job for an upcoming charter. Yachting life took over from here and he’s never looked back. With many sea miles and a lot of hard work and dedication his commitment paid off when he achieved his Master <3,000gt at the age of 27. Not long after, at the age of 29 Troy took command of the yacht Mia Elise. Troy has been lucky enough to cruise many destinations such as the East/Central/West Mediterranean, the Atlantic Ocean, the West coast of Africa, the East Coast of the USA, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Pacific, the West Coast of Australia, New Zealand and the Red Sea. Like most sailors Troy enjoys being at sea and with that, most of his hobbies involve the ocean. In his
free time, he enjoys wakeboarding, diving, spearfishing, sailing, fishing, motocross, 4- wheeldriving, hunting, camping - anything outdoors.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Cornelis was born and raised in the Mother City (Cape Town) and spent most of his time outdoors, in the ocean and on the sportsfield. Before pursuing his yachting career, Cornelis played rugby at Stellenbosch University’s famous Maties club, which is also the largest rugby club in the world. Having played semiprofessional for a several years he decided to explore a different area of the world. Yachting seemed to be a great change as it included a large amount of travel, outdoor activity and interacting with many different types of people and cultures around the world. Since he started his career in 2011 he has been on a range of charter and private yachts around the world. Cornelis is a soft spoken, open and very friendly person to be around and he will be sure to make you feel comfortable, safe and right at home from the moment you step on board. Cornelis has a passion for most sports especially motorsports and rugby, he also loves wildlife and being in contact with nature. Cory's first yachting job was 5 years ago aboard a 161 ft motor yacht as a deckhand learning the trade. He has worked his way up the ranks while studying and learning from senior crew on both private and charter yachts. Now, as a senior crew member himself, Cory strives to pass on his knowledge to the IMPROMPTU team. In the future, Cory plans to further his education and licenses to one day captain a vessel.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Safety Officer. Oversight of the proper maintenance of the exterior of vessel, tenders and watersport equipment. Complete required checks on all safety equipment and ensure training and drills are scheduled and completed. Ensuring that all guests have a safe and fun experience on board. WORK EXPERIENCE: David White hails from the City of London, where he knew from an early age he was going to become a Chef. Starting his exploration into food as a youngster growing up in his family home, he then trained and worked in London where he honed hisskills before continuing on his journey of Culinary excellence and exploration. David has since been fortunate to work with and learn from the best Chef’s in Bordeaux, Biarritz, Hossegor, Corsica, the French Alps and the Basque Country before taking on the challenges and rewards that the Michelin Starred restaurants such as Claridge’s and The Ritz have to offer. David competed in the TV Series Masterchef the Professionals into the televised final stages. Now with over 15 years under his belt David specializes in Patisserie, Asian, French, Italian, Mediterranean, Fusion and British cuisines, has worked in some of the premiere restaurants in Europe. David is also an accomplished skier, winning Gold in the British Freestyle Slopestyle Ski Championships in 2014 – you will likely see him competing in future Ski Freeride World Tours.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Amy Cook was raised in the country town of Millicent, South Australia where she pursued a career as a travel agent. After seven years of creating ‘holidays of a lifetime’ for clients it was time for a change. Whilst traveling through the States an opportunity working at a winery presented and saw her move to upstate New York. In 2012 Amy qualified as a sommelier after working at the winery for two summers; a great glass of wine is one of Amy’s favorite indulgences. In 2011 Amy made her way down to the sunshine coast of Florida and began her yachting career. Most of Amy’s experience ranges from 30m to 50m yachts and has seen her travel all over the world. The pleasure in yachting for Amy is meeting new people and visiting new destinations. Amy’s great demeanour, extensive knowledge of wine, silver service, and bartending will without doubt add copious joy to your stay onboard M/Y Impromptu. Amy’s is also studying interior design and enjoys bringing the tables to life during the each meal.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Emily grew up in the “City of Sails” – aka Auckland – and like most other kiwis, she became familiar with the ocean from a very early age. It wasn’t long beforeshe outgrew the small but beautiful country, so after leaving High School, she took the first opportunity to head overseas to Mexico where she lived for a year. Here she learnt to speak fluent Spanish, dance to Cumbia music, and make tortillas from scratch. After a short respite back at home, and with a taste for travel in her blood, the itchy feet returned and Emily soon brushed off the dust from her back-pack and set off again – this time her compass was aimed at Brazil where she spent the next 18months adding Portuguese and Samba dancing to her list. Emily then gave some time to her passions of remedial bodywork and natural therapies, before the urge to travel had soon taken over again, which lead her into yachting. Since then, Emily has cruised around the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and East Coast of the US where she continues to indulge her love of food, languages, and of course dance moves. Emily has a strong background in customer service and massage therapy. From a young age she worked in hospitality, before moving to a client services and business development role within a technology-focused organization. She then worked as a massage therapist for 8 years, taking her skills to the high seas after 4 years.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Kayla is new to the yachting industry but prior to joining she was working in marketing and most recently as a Direct Marketing Specialist. Kayla was born in small costal town New Zealand and grew up on her parent’s farm. She has fond memories helping out alongside her three siblings during December, on the family Christmas Tree Farm. This is Kayla’s first season working aboard a super yacht and she is very excited to be working alongside her husband Simon on M/Y Impromptu. Kayla holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Marketing and advertising. Prior to joining the yachting industry, Kayla was working as a Directing Marketing Specialist for a home improvement company. Kayla is enjoying the break away from the office and looks forward to setting off in a new direction on the seven seas.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Simon was born in New Zealand but spent his childhood traveling around the world on a ship that his Father was the Captain of. This has given him a passion for the sea and yacht racing. His engineering career began at a New Zealand super yacht company called Alloy Yachts, where he completed his Marine Systems Engineering trade. Prior to joining MY Impromptu he competed in and won the 35th Americas Cup with Emirates Team New Zealand, as a hydraulic engineer. It has always been his passion to work in the yachting industry after spending years building them.

WORK EXPERIENCE: James has been in the yachting industry for 4 years and worked his way up to the position of Bosun after having gained experience in the proper maintenance of a yacht and tenders. Coming from a mechanical background he also assisted the engineers with various jobs and with watersport equipment. James was born in a tiny town called Kokstad and grew up on a farm until the age of 14 when his family moved to the coast. This is where hetook up surfing and his love and respect for the ocean started. James has always been torn between motocross and surfing. After school he decided to go the motocross route. After a few rough years of being injured, he decided to make a change. While contemplating his options, he spoke to a friend who was already working on yachts and after hearing his first hand experiences, he decided yachting was his next move. So he packed his bags and in early 2013 he got his first job on a yacht. His favorite part of the job is traveling to new places and meeting new people. James still has a deep passion for motocross and surfing and does both as often as he can. He also has a love for nature and wild animals.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Also from South Africa, Cilene was born in Roodepoort. Cilene is a 19 year old dedicated and vibrant young lady who is not afraid to get her hands dirty and working hard. She is extremely open minded and always have a positive attitude, a smile on her face and a great outlook at life. Cilene loves being active and outdoors hence the reason why she prefers working on the exterior. Cilene grew up in the performing arts industry and is trained in all different styles of dancing including Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop etc. She also have a great passion for acting as she loves entertaining people and making people happy. Even though Cilene is still very knew to the super yachting industry and she is very excited to see how her future unfolds on the big blue.
