WORK EXPERIENCE: Alex was raised on the coast of New Jersey but didn’t discover boats until after her teenage years. The dream of working on the ocean was sparked while spending the summer away from her studies at the University of Maryland, as crew on a catamaran in the West Indies. Before sailing away for good, she miraculously returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree. After finishing college, she moved to Hawaii and it wasn’t long before she managed to talk her way aboard the 50’ green-hulled sailboat that would become her home for the next couple of years. S/Y
Drina cruised regions that included the South Pacific, Patagonia, and Cape Horn; she eventually stepped off the vessel in Rio de Janeiro before moving to Alaska. While studying for her captain’s license, she worked in Anchorage as a personal trainer and after getting her license she took a position aboard a seismic research vessel in northern Alaska. In 2013, Alex decided to try her hand at yachting and has been in the industry ever since. She has run several
small yachts under 100’ and feels most at home on the water.
